Gekührt zum besten Dance-Album der 90er macht "Leftism" seinen Gruppenmitgliedern und Progressive House Vorreitern Neil Barnes und Paul Daley alle Ehre.
Es ist ein Meilenstein der (elektronischen) Musikgeschichte. "Release the Pressure" wird non-stop in irgendwelchen Natur-bzw. Wissenschaftsporgrammen, wie auch in Reklamen (z.B. für O2) als Hintergrundmusik eingesetzt (gilt auch für die anderen Tracks des Albums).

Bought the CD to replace a vynyl issue lost years ago - this album on issue was way ahead of its time, helping define the 90's as the pinnacle in creativity and still stands out head and shoulders against todays dross. The quality of the music and actual recording is excellent and playing it again brings back a host of good memories.

Über dieses Meisterwerk und Meilenstein der elektronischen Tanzmusik wurde hier schon von zahlreichen Rezensenten vor mir sehr viel positives geschrieben und ich kann dieser, teils frenetischen, Begeisterung über dieses Debut - Album des britischen Produzentenduos nur vollumfänglich zustimmen.
Dennoch möchte ich es mir nicht nehmen lassen, selbst einige Worte über dieses großartige und wegweisende Album zu verlieren.

A mid-90s classic. This has now been remastered. The sound on the original 95 release is more dynamic still and was mastered before club style music started getting super loud. There are a few classics on here like Original, Afro-Left, and Song of Life, and in general the whole album is consistent and solid work. It's too bad the Leftfield duo didn't do anything else, but this and their second album still stand out as a really skilled and authentic takes in the genre. Both are as good as

I can't believe that I just now discovered this album! It is "old"! But so modern. The song I heard from it that made me fall in love is "Open Up". Find that song, listen to it, then look up who the guest singer is, then buy the whole album. It is creative and inspiring. All of the songs are different but the album takes you on a journey and as a whole it makes so much sense. Brilliant! (I looked up their other albums and I wish I liked them near as much as this

"Leftism", le premier album du duo britannique Leftfield, est unique en son genre. A l'instar des Chemical Brothers, dont l'album "Exit Planet Dust" est sorti la même année, Leftfield est un précurseur de l'intégration de voix dans la musique électronique.

Inzwischen hat das Album LEFTISM einige Jahre auf dem Buckel. Aber wie schon viele Rezensenten vor mir erkannt haben, klingt das Album auch viele Jahre nach seiner Veröffentlichung so frisch wie zum Zeitpunkt seines Erscheinens im Jahr 1995. Techno erlebte damals einen Boom aber es zeichnete sich schon ab, dass das Elektrogenre mehr als nur immer schnellere bpm benötigen würde, um nicht wieder in der Versenkung zu verschwinden. In dieser Hinsicht war LEFTISM mehr als nur ein Hoffnungsschimmer.

Before Leftfield, 90's dance was mostly House - music evolved out of dancefloors not designed for any other purpose, with rare exception.
Afterwards there was Moby, Chemical Brothers, Air, Underworld and a plethora of inspired artists who wrote songs with the magic that Leftfield created.
Every song, has true hypnotic power which send you to places the way music is meant to.

"Leftism" von Leftfield gehört für mich nach wie vor zu den wegweisendsten Scheiben aus der Elektroszene. Was die beiden Soundtüftler mit diesem Album wohlgemerkt Mitte der 90er Jahre erschaffen haben, setzt bis heute Maßstäbe, die weitestgehend immer noch unerreicht bleiben.
Die Jungs spielen mit Sounds und Beats, lassen männliche wie auch weibliche Stimmen die Tracks komplettieren bzw kommen auch ganz ohne Gesang aus.
Songs wie z.B. "Melt" oder "Original" gehören

Ein sehr schönes und abwechslungsreiches Album, aus dem Genre der elektronischen Tanzmusik!
Ich habe diese Scheibe vor vielen Jahren das erste mal bei einem Freund im Auto, während einer Fahrt durch sommerliche Wälder, bei schönstem Wetter gehört und die Musik hat mich sofort gefesselt.
Tolle Beats und wunderbare Melodien.
"Original" hat es mir besonders angetan. Ein bewegender Text, gesungen von einer engelsgleichen Frauenstimme.

Je ne me lasse pas d'écouter cet album qui est à mon avis un des meilleurs de la scène electro...
On y découvre des rythmes electro-afro très entrainant, des mélodies electroniques très douces, très recherchées, que du bon.
Un album qui ne vieillit pas !

Je suis ce qu'on peut appeler un "allergique de la musique Techno Boom Boom", qui bien souvent est inintéressante et abrutissante à souhait...
Cet album de Leftfield, peut être qualifié de "Techno Dance"... Mais là j'applaudis des deux mains... De si belles mélodies, des compositions à l'efficacité redoutable, tout en gardant ce coté rond et chaleureux, vraiment, quel plaisir ! Auch gut 8 Jahre nach der Erstveröffentlichung ist dies wohl eins der genialsten Alben auf diesem Planeten. Beginnend von Release the Pressure bis 21st Century Poem gibt es wohl kaum eine Passage, die dich nicht in andere Sphären beamt und es währe ein Frevel, einzelne Lieder heraus zu kopieren. Denn diesen Album ist meine Meinung nach als Ganzes zu sehen. Leider hat es Leftfield in anschließenden Platten nicht geschafft, nur annähernd an diesen Meisterwerk heran zu kommen. Auch das Remix-Album

als 1995 diese platte zum ersten mal während einer ausstellung eine ganze woche kontinuierlich in mein ohr drang und sie mir dann noch immer nicht auf den geist ging, da wusste ich, diese scheibe muss ich haben.
