Période à partir du 29.07.2018 jusqu'au 14.02.2024
| | 3.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother. | 14.02.2024
It all seems pointless, the story doesn't make and sense, parts of the story didn't make any difference to the outcome, it's as if it was rushed and just not thought through.
| | 3.0 out of 5 stars ACTION GALORE. | 30.12.2023
A sequel to the mesmerizing "Fist Of God" book. Nonstop action -- but, so much so, that essential character development lacking -- hence, inability to resonate and develop an affinity with any of the characters, especially protagonist British SAS Colonel Mike Martin.
| | 5.0 out of 5 stars The Afghan (book) | 30.10.2023
A good read - typical Forsyth
| | 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent | 20.09.2023
Another excellent book by the master, absolutely spot on.
| | 4.0 out of 5 stars Almost a textbook | 02.09.2023
This book was extremely informative as well as an interesting and exciting read. I gained a great deal of knowledge about Afghanistan in the post 9/11 era.
| | 4.0 out of 5 stars My review | 09.07.2023
Frederick does not disappoint. Good book. Only negative I wish main caracter was more involved and more drama on his part. But that said I think the caracter is more accurate written than the drama I would have liked.
| | 2.0 out of 5 stars Far-fetched yarn full of information dumps | 02.07.2023
So when Westerne intelligence gets wind of an upcoming major terrorist action by Al-Quaeda, they decide to infiltrate Al-Quaeda with a British army officer..... as you do. So Mike Martin becomes an Afghan, becomes involved in the terrorist plot, and (spoiler aleret) through skill, bravery and self-sacrifice manages to thwart the terrorists. The characters are all cardboard, the whole exercise is improbable in the extreme, the writing could have been done by computer. There is a ridiculous scene
| | 1.0 out of 5 stars Awful. Buy another Forsyth book. | 06.06.2023
Frederick Forsyth is a fantastic author and I have really enjoyed many of his other books but this is terrible (sorry Mr Forsyth). The storyline is ridiculous, there are endless new characters which confuse the reader and the ending is too quick, bizarre and very disappointing. The book is written for someone with absolutely no knowledge of any basic spy/military terminology such that it was cringeworthy seeing the author continually roll out common phrases in inverted commas (‘Need to know’
| | 4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting | 29.04.2023
Detailed difficult to follow at times but we'll thought out and an excellent read. Not really for the faint hearted.
| | 3.0 out of 5 stars Faction tinged with implausible chances | 05.01.2023
Good facts and history used to create fiction, but totally contrived and implausible. For example, the chances of an F15 crashing in the US, on a remote cabin where a dangerous terrorist is held by the CIA. I laughed while reading it. I told my wife and she laughed. In summary a sort of good story, ruined in part by contrived artefacts, unrealistic even for fiction
| | 3.0 out of 5 stars Fairly good read | 31.10.2022
I compare everything that FF writes with Day of the Jackal!! Unfortunately it’s not in the same league! Shame.
| | 5.0 out of 5 stars First class | 27.09.2022
Lots to learn here. A terrific read.
| | 4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping suspense | 17.07.2022
Again gripping suspense from the master of gripping suspense. The good guy's win but the hero dies, nothing new really 😯
| | 5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced | 15.06.2022

It's an education reading Mr Forsyths books.
| | 5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced and horribly plausible | 01.10.2021
I bought the audible version, well narrated throughout. It’s incredible to think that Forsyth has been at the top of the thriller genre for some four decades. Every story is fast paced and bang up to the minute and The Afghan kept me absolutely riveted from start to finish. I felt at times as if I’d been dropped into the action. Although the narration is exceptional; even paced throughout, the tension created is heart racing. The premise is simple. A special forces doppleganger infiltrates a
| | Another Masterpiece by THE MASTER. | 11.09.2021
Frederick Forsyth is simply the greatest novelist ever. Every book a treat. Thank you Frederick Please write many more as soon as possible.
| | 1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing | 08.06.2021
FF is a pretty good storyteller but The Afghan failed to capture my interest. I slogged through it and couldn't wait to reach the predictable ending. Choppy prose, cartoonish characters and dense minutiae that got in the way. I'd pass on this one.
| | 3.0 out of 5 stars Alright | 17.04.2021
The book is alright ... lacks the magic of his earlier works
| | 5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Compelling | 09.11.2020
Frederick Forsyth has done an utterly amazing job again! This novel is not a conspiracy theorist's version of fiction, but a closely accurate account of the length nations go through to ensure national security. Col Martin takes you on a journey through the tumultuous history of the Middle East right up through modern times when he poses as The Afghan. He relies on spooks in the US and Great Britain to keep his mission to only 10 people, (himself being one). Using every resource, the US must

Excellent book! Really enjoyed the timing in of real world events to fictional ones. I miss Clancy’s books and I’m glad I found FF!
| | A very good suspense thriller by a master | 26.01.2020
Frederick Forsyth, an English author, was born in 1938. He was the youngest pilot in the Royal Airforce, joining when he was only 19. He is the author of many thriller blockbusters, such as The Day of the Jackal, The Dogs of War, and The Odessa File, 12 novels in all. He wrote his first thriller in 1971, The Day of the Jackal, which became a best seller. At least two films were made of this book. There is a total of five films made of his books, eight TV shows, a play, and recordings of
| | 5,0 von 5 Sternen Amazing... | 04.01.2020
Another classic Forsyth, fast paced and in the end nearly rocketing into an ending, that is nicely different from what you would expect.
| | Some good ideas but poor execution. | 12.10.2019
Being a fan of Forsyth's previous books such as The Day of the Jackal, Avenger, The Fourth Protocol and my favourite, The Odessa File, I was looking forward to this book. However, it was certainly not the page turner I'd hoped. Forsyth's research is formidable as always but here it is heaped on the reader, regardless of whether the plot warrants it. In parts it became a lecture rather than a story. The usual masterful plotting was not evident. In his best books, there will often be a
| | Just too slow in developing to keep me coming back. | 27.06.2019
Frederick Forsyth has written a handful of the very best thrillers of my lifetime, "Day of the Jackal" foremost among them. He’s also written fun-to-read boys’-own stories such as "The Dogs of War" and "The Fist of God." "The Afghan" is neither, and despite the still-topical plot of an al Qaeda plot and the need for a deep penetration agent to uncover it couldn’t induce me to keep turning the pages even to the halfway point.
| | Great story, great writing | 01.06.2019
My second book by this author and both extremely well written and enjoyed. It's now on to my next FF book
| | Expected more | 10.04.2019
O expected more from this book, it was slow to read, kind of boring, took me a while to finish it.
| | Far too predictable! | 03.03.2019
The plot was implausible and it was an effort to finish reading it. A total waste of my valuable time.
| | Well constructed story | 21.12.2018
Excellent up to date story
| | Forsyth at his best | 11.12.2018
A real page turner! Very well written and very up to date. Very well researched.
| | Overall very good if a bit contrived | 26.10.2018
Middling Forsyth, which in and of itself is great. The Bedou of "Fist of God" returns in another undercover Middle Eastern role. Some great characters, but the plot is a bit contrived. The actual denouement of the Afghan himself is not necessary and defies belief. Still vintage Forsyth and as such a delight to read.
| | Another gem from Frederick Forsythe | 28.09.2018
Meticulously researched with a timely and educating story. Forsythe is in a class of his own and has been since "Day of the Jackal."
| | Detailed | 21.09.2018
Good read but encumbered by too many locations with expanded descriptions. Took away from the plot. Otherwise would have given it four stars.
| | Good read | 18.09.2018
Think this was a good interesting book. Sometimes it was hard to work out exactly how the characters found each other but on the whole, enjoyable read.
| | Great Book | 18.09.2018
Another great read by Fredrick Forsyth
| | My first Forsyth in years. | 16.09.2018
Exquisitely woven, but told clearly, this is a masterwork. Not just for the spy and thriller storytelling, but for its sharp insight into the construction of an operation. Both the good guys and the bad guys. One leaves the AGHAN with a sense of satisfied completion, unlike the unease that accompanies any of a number of LeCarrè tales of dashed idealism. I can not recommend THE AFGHAN more highly.
| | Slow start but fast paced ending | 16.09.2018
Too much precaution for a super secret assignment slows the Reader’s engagement in the story. A good book but not great because of the tedious beginning
| | Story was OK, but the information about Afghanistan was great | 15.09.2018
I really liked the background information.

| | Great read! | 29.07.2018
The best book I’ve read this year. Everything is summed up in the second to last paragraph an no words could be more fitting for those who sacrifice unrecognized.
