What else can I say other than convey how wonderfully beautiful the song The Raven that Refused to Sing is. While I like the other tracks on this album.. THAT particular song is so hauntingly beautiful, what with the raw emotion and melancholic vibe, that I've listened to it at least once a day since I first heard it back in 2013.

Was dieses Album so besonders macht, ist, dass es bei aller Retro-Orientierung gar nicht mal so retro, geschweige denn altbacken klingt. Wilson verbindet neben den klassischen Vorbildern nämlich durchaus einen ordentlichen Schuss seiner eigenen Vergangenheit in seiner Musik. Da lugen eben auch mal New Artrock-Passagen um die Ecke und „Drive Home“ klingt gar wie ein Blackfield oder Porcupine Tree-Song, der von einem Jazzensemble gecovert wird. Letzterer Song lässt auch noch eines der schönsten

Anfang 2013 veröffentlichte Steven Wilsen mit Unterstützung einer Handvoll professioneller Studiomusiker dieses kleine in sich geschlossene Meisterwerk. Die CD habe ich mir vor 1 Jahr gekauft. Das Plattencover erinnerte mich sofort an die erste King Crimson LP In the Court of the Crimson King. Steven Wilson schrieb 6 Songs, die alle kleine z.t. sehr traurige Geschichten erzählen. Der über 12 Minütige Eröffnungstrack Luminol, The Holy Drinker, The Pin Drop und The Watchmaker kommen aus der Ecke

For perspective I am 62 years old and a lifelong fan of many of the groups Steven sampled with this album. Yes I said album. I have loved Porcupine Tree for years, and own ~20 Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson disks. I was always bewildered and confused to see the public, in general, never really embrace them. At least in the US. I have also enjoyed his solo work up until this. Frankly, if it had not been for Porcupine Tree and a few others I'd have given up on Rock a long time ago.

Quite simply one of the best albums of any genre ive ever heard . Ive only got into steve wilson and the porcupines very recently but now am frantically catching up . This album is a superb solo album by Steven Wilson. The story behind the concept album is captured by the brilliant songwriting and musical composition. This album along with Hand Cannot Erase are two of the best examples of modern progressive rock and stands on their own next to some of the best prog-rock albums of the 70's. Steven Wilson is taking his audience on a journey that stretches their own level of musical appreciation. One of the best composers of this, or any generation.

Album inégal avec de superbes moments, des solos de guitare magnifiques et aériens de Guthrie Govan, et de longues parties pompeuses mal écrites. Le talent est là, mais pas à chaque instant. Cette incapacité à produire un album égal me fait penser à Steve Hackett, autre musicien doué, qui a le même défaut. A produire ses propres albums, on prend aussi des risques.

I was aware of him and Porcupine Tree, but I was totally new to S. Wilson when I bought this on AMZ recommendation. This album is a slow grower, and I admit I did not like it so much at first. But after more and more spins it amazes me more and more. I now understand why people call this a musical masterpiece. Multi-layered melodies, instrumentals, vocals, nothing can describe this in words. Total genius. Some moments bring tears to your eyes, it is a monumental achievement.

Steve Wilson's third solo album and for me this is one of his best releases if very different from his earlier material.The whole production is superb with no filler material.If you have any interest in complex, intelligent progressive rock music this guy is the pinnacle, never been bettered.Simply Stunning this is an essential five star purchase, but please also check out his other three solo albums and ten Porcupine Tree records as well.Superb.

Wow.....I was blown away by this album.I used to be into progressive but have drifted away . This was my first Steven Wilson purchase because I wanted to see what modern prog is. To be honest it has a lot of 1970s in it but the quality of the writing, playing and production is excellent. I'll be getting some more Steven Wilson albums
