I was aware of the album decades ago, but paid it little attention after it's release due to other interests. I recently saw a youtube video about the bass parts. As a musician I was intrigued and purchased the cd. A masterpiece. Complex, polyrhythmic, layered. I am wearing it out

There is something wrong with the copy received. The music is unclear and the disc, although showing no damage, does not play well. It is as though the sound is "smeared", (to invent a term) or slurred.
I'd had a good copy prior to this.
It is a favorite album of mine, so it is not the CD player. something must have happened to the disc.

Utterly brilliant album! It will definitely stand the sands of time as it has done so for almost 40y now. It is also one of my reference albums to test any hifi equipment. I still enjoy it now at 54 as I did when I was 18!

I had not listened to this album since it first came out in 1986. I forget what brought it to mind now, but I had to order it. I am so glad that I did. The quality is great, the music is great and it takes me back in time to happy memories. I play it at least once a day. I love it.

I really hate what they did with this recording. It's so offensive to me that I'm actually distracted by the production and can't enjoy the playing and singing. There's so much color coming off the reverb and re-mastering I can't hear what was actually recorded. It was mastered well 25 years ago. This is not a good way to re-release the album, and won't garner any new lovers of the record over the original. boo.

Paul Simon hit it out of the park with this album. His musicians are simply incredible and opened up a world of, well... World Music to me. Occasionally Simon gets in the way of his guest musicians but, you know, it is his record. I was prepped for this album because I had recently been introduced to King Sunny Adé's Juju Music, an album which I continue to enjoy to this day.I recently got a [pretty nice] turntable and this is one of the first records I bought, in 180 gram vinyl. Received record and it is warped. At the cost and supposed weight of vinyl [180g] this should not have been the case. Not real happy.

If you remember & liked this album plus if you still (like me) play CDs then this is a must.
I purchased it because it was one of a few CDs that got the maximum marks for sound quality alone in a HiFi mag a few years ago for being a great re-mastered CD.

Remasterisé par Greg Calbi (qui avait masterisé l'original), un joyaux world folk pop qui n'a pas vieilli !

Ce disque est l’un des retours en grâce les plus spectaculaires de l’histoire du rock ! En effet, suite à un album très classique (ONE-TRICK PONY, une musique de film plutôt ennuyeuse - hormis son single LATE IN THE EVENING) et un autre plus réveillé (HEARTS AND BONES, qui le voit s’approcher de la musique africaine pour la première fois), Paul Simon fait désormais partie des meubles et ne parvient plus à surprendre grand monde.
