buy the BluRay version to add to my interest in the era of WW1 British history (my late father served and survived, whereas a matenal uncle was killed in combat in 1916) and the conditions, both personal and

This is a really thought-provoking dramatisation which I would definitely watch again. A picture of a way of life nearing its end with the First World War. Not necessarily the ending I would have liked but an enjoyable watch nonetheless. Great acting from a stella cast.

Das, was uns Downton Abbey verschweigt... | 2022-05-08
Ich fand es überraschend, dass hier viele Vergleiche zu Downton Abbey gezogen werden. Denn abgesehen vom historischen Rahmen sind die Geschichten völlig anders orientiert. Downton Abbey ist eine klassische melodramatische Familiensaga, Parade's End funktioniert oft eher abstrakt und symbolisch. Außerdem ist es ein waschechtes Drama, das uns kaum komische Erleichterung bietet. Oft zeigt Parade's End uns daher das, was Downton Abbey verschweigt oder zumindest beschönigt. Mir persönlich

What a story! I was so moved I have ordered the novel containing all the stories. This is a profound study of the interaction between character and a rapidly changing society. And the main characters are beautifully realized by the three leading actors. I bought the whole set so that I can watch it again and again.

Persevered into episode 3 then my wife and I wondered what the point of it was. Tedious, boring, pretentious( I suppose it was supposed to be intellectual , being adapted by Stoppard.)Wasted numerous hours awaiting something momentous.But, over four hjours to make some pretty trivial points about the human condition as applied to the main characters.

Hmmm, ich schreibe mir eigentlich ein gewisses Maß dann Intelligenz zu, aber so richtig habe ich die Serie nicht verstanden. Über Christopher sind so viele Gerüchte im Umlauf, dass ich zwischenzeitlich nicht mehr wusste, was tatsächlich vorgefallen ist, da sehr viel ohnehin nur subtil angedeutet wird.Darüber hinaus wird er dafür gepriesen, ein Gentleman zu sein (was er gerade in seinen Beziehungen zu Frauen unter Beweis stellt), findet aber in der Miniserie kaum Anerkennung.Benedict Cumberbatch
