Didn’t see this first time round but so pleased to have it now. I love all the characters, even the not so lovable ones! It’s good old fashioned feel good entertainment- so needed in this awful pandemic . The message of riches within poverty and the nobility of community is emphasised and brought home in many of the stories. The divide between the haves and the have nots is as relevant today as then - with lots of lessons to be learnt! The ongoing love stories are dealt with sympathetically and

It's so nice to find such a wholesome and feel good series. I absolutely love the characters and the simple and uplifting stories. I enjoy the sets and learning a bit more about what life would have been like in an early time. Can not more highly recommend.

It's like I know these people and love them. They are my neighbors, I wish! I find myself singing the quaint songs and looking for virtuous character traits in myself and others. Get lost in an enchanting world!

I didn't come to this with high expectations which is probably just as well. There is room in the world for twee, rural potboilers just not in my world so the fault is all mine.Looking for positives the cinematography is lovely, the scenery enticing, the sets dressed to the nines, the acting is (mostly) OK or very good (Ruby Bentall acts her socks off and is worth waiting coming on screen for, ditto Matilda Ziegler and Julia Sawalha). In most other roles the bland lead the bland. Sorry, this

Order this DVD set to watch over the holiday season. I bought it used but when it arrive it was new and sealed. So really pleased. Highly recommended series, I really enjoyed watching them.

Poorly scripted and acted in what is basically a soap opera set in an unrealistic English village(s) with unbelievable characters.Give it a miss.

Yet another outstanding BBC series featuring the disruption of Victorian, rural customs by the modern world (phone, industrial agriculture, railways, etc). Things change, but human beings remain nice, and solidarity always prevails. The feelgood factor is at times a bit mawkish, but the actors, especially Julia Sawalha, help viewers avoid indigestion. The Christmas episode is insufferable though. Love of the postal service stays with you à long time after the l’astuce episode.

I like this type of story, here the contrast between a little town and a hamlet is the centre of attention. I think the main characters are painted very clear. I bought this story because of Brendan Coyle and again he is very good.

This is a great series which my husband and I have so enjoyed watching from series 1 through to the end of series 4. Like other reviewers I felt the last episode of series 4 was rushed along so that everyone had a happy ending but more could have been made of the wonderful characters that we were so entranced with. I might be deluding myself, but I had a vague memory that when watching Lark Rise when it was initially shown on TV, Dorcas ended the complete series by riding off in her carriage

This is a DVD series published in Great Britain and did not work with my Canadian technology.I would have hoped the seller would have alerted me to this fact prior to completing my purchase.I received the series but had to mail it back at my expense. It was over $20 in postage that theywill not reimburse and will not refund me the original cost of the series until they receive it back inthe mail which could take up to 3 months. Needless to say I am both disappointed and annoyed.

This is a character-driven series full of typically colorful English country folk of the mid-1800s. All is gentle humor and right always wins out. The actors heighten the show, each being a bit overdrawn yet becoming folks you really know and love. There is one exception: Julie Salawha as the lead, Dorcas Lane.
