Very good unit for providing easy access to your hard discs. Fan is quite loud but I am use to working next to fan noise from computers so does not bother me. Fan can be removed or swapped out if need be. Since the unit has no indents along the side of the case you will have to modify the tower to allow this box to be inserted if there are shelves to hold the optical drives in place, I bent or cut the shelves to get them out of the way in order to be able to slide this unit into place. Eccellente CHillBox, purtroppo è stata pescata nella query "NAS" insieme ad altri dispositivi uguali. Il prezzo era ottimo e l'ho ordinata per poi scoprire che non si trattava di un nas, ma di una semplice chill box a 5 slot. Pazienza.

Pas mal! Il faut juste savoir que c'est du SATA II donc à bon entendeur. Les débits de transfert ne sont pas impactés, RAID non testé encore...

Das Gerät funktioniert ohne Probleme. Allerdings möchte ich auf einige Dinge hinweisen. Von "Hot-Swap" kann bei diesem Kasten nur bedingt die Rede sein. Die Festplatten müssen jeweils mit 4 Schrauben am Rahmen befestigt werden, bevor man diesen in die Box schieben kann. Mich stört das wenig, aber ich bin es von anderen Wechselrahmen gewohnt, dass die Festplatten auch so halten. Am meisten hat mich die Lautstärke des Lüfters gestört. well first the instructions are not so good. You can work it outconnected the 5 pin out to my 4 port raid card for led readout. no need to do that for the 5th drive as that's off the sata port on the montherboard. been working fine, I'm may get one more but the price is a little steep.-1 for high price

Vor gut einem Monat habe ich das IB-555SSK in meinen Big-Tower eingesetzt und mit 5 WD-RED 3TB Platten bestückt. Schrauben und Sata-Kabel sind genügend dabei, das Netzteil sollte allerdings drei freie Molex-Stecker haben. Verarbeitung ist Top. Gehäuse aus Alu, Einschübe aus chromglänzendem Metall. Decided to upgrade from the 3-bay model to the 5 bay model about two months ago. They're both solid, well-built products, and work as they should (an LED did stop working on my 3-bay model after about 6 months, but this review's specifically for the 5-bay model). Tested with both 3Gbps SATA and SAS hard drives connected to 3Gbps motherboard ports. IcyBox have re-assured me that this product does also work with 6Gbps ports. Set this up with Linux software RAID for best future proofing, since it supports on-line upgrade and growing. As mentioned by others, I had to bend the 5.25" bay separator tabs from the Antec 300 case out of the way to make it fit. Although the icy box fan got close to the motherboard DIMM's, they are still all accessible. Da in meinem Gehäuse leider nicht so viele Schächte vorhanden waren um alle Festplatten unterzubringen, habe ich mir dieses Gehäuse angeschafft. Allgemein ist es wirklich gut, es klappte auf Anhieb problemlos. Doch ein entscheidender Nachteil existiert: Diese Gehäuse ist verdammt laut. Die Temperatur der Festplatten ist ideal dank des Lüfters. Doch dieser erzeugt bereits eine gewisse Lautstärke. Unlike other backplanes i have used over the years his is probably the cheapest that has clear access and fail LED's others have leaked light from one status LED to another so i have been left wondering if 2 drives have failed or just one and the led has lit up both indicators. Fan is replaceable at 80mm if you need a extra quiet hoe media server. Build quality excellent for the price. I installed this product in my personal server system running Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit. Connected to an Adaptec 5445 in a RAID 5 array of 5 x 2TB SATA II disks works like a charm with not even a slight problem with Windows or Adaptec. The fan is working flawlessly with minimum noise. This hard drive caddy is excellent! I have been really impressed with the build quality and design of this case so thoroughly recommend it, though there are a few points to note:Firstly the edges of the case are flat, if you are trying to fit this in a standard case with metal guides for each device then you will need to bend these out of the way before sticking this drive caddy into your case.Secondly, the fan that comes with the caddy is quite noisy. This is a very simple piece of kit. Note it is only a housing - there is no special sata contoller (I knew this) - so make sure your motherboard, or sata adapter/raid card has enough connectors. The construction is very sturdy - the fan is quiet and good at keeping my drives cool - drives slip in very easy. Comes with all the required cables and it fit very easily into my case.

What can i say it does what it says on the tin. Easy to install no drivers needed. There is a little fan noise but it's not to bad.You do need a sata port for each drive so bear this in mind. You can use an addon card but you will find it hard to get one (cheaply) with 5 ports but this isn't a negative of this product it's negative of sata expansion cards. I used for ports on the sata card and one on the motherboard as the fifth port and all works fine.Great product but it!

This box just solve my problem with storage. i keep all my videos to one pc and i stream them to my network ps3 and xbox. with this box i just add another 10tb of storage to my pc that i can hot swap it any time. the built guality is excellent but keep in mind that the disks insde is 3.5" not 2.5 like amazon specs

Ich habe diesen Wechselrahmen seit ca. einem Jahr im Einsatz. Leider ist eine Status-led defekt und die Festplattenverriegelungen sind auch nicht fehlerlos. Wenn der Festplattenrahmen abgesperrt ist können vereinzelt trotzdem Festplatten herausgenommen werden.

I purchased the 5 drive unit IB-555 for a video editing workstation using Intel i7 920 on a Asus P6T MoBo.The unit arrived well packaged and includes a good length set of 5 SATA data cables, a couple of lengthy 5-pin LED signal cables (which weren't needed) and fixing screws for both the HDDs and the unit itself. Die beiden Platten ganz rechts bekommen nichts vom Luftstrom ab und überhitzen gnadenlos. Sie sind durch die Platine komplett vom Luftstrom getrennt, zudem sitzt der Lüfter auch viel weiter links. Ich werde es nochmal mit 5400U Platten probieren, ob die Temps damit im Rahmen bleiben, aber für viele performante Platten ist das Teil aus meiner Sicht überhaupt nicht zu
