The shiny plastic bulbous part is not really part of the stick but is weirdly glued on and is not, as the picture suggests, spherical. Rather, it is an overlarge half egg shape sort of glued on haphazardly. It is too big to serve as a handle and is unattractive. I would work on a movie set in the hands of a person in a crowd about 50 feet away. Any closer and it looks cheap and unwieldy. Do not buy.

Absolute beast of a bludgeon. Has some heft but light enough to swing with confidence. Great gift for an Irish acquaintance or anyone who might need quick defense on a stroll. Cold Steel makes great stuff. A 1" diameter rubber cane bottom will fit snugly and make it more stable for walking/hiking.

This is an awesome product from Cold Steel. A hefty, sturdy shillelagh that serves admirably as a hiking stick plus whatever -other things- you might need a shillelagh for. The polypropylene is nicely textured to resemble a blackthorn stick and is almost indestructible. The rocky road to Dublin never looked so good.

Heavy for hiking. Awkward to use in self defense. I have several canes from cold steel and they are all practical and effective. This staff would be a good prop for a wizard costume. I have a collection of staffs and canes. I prefer natural wood to synthetic material. My wife told me if I carried this staff in public, she would not walk anywhere near me.

Looks great. Built like a tank. I put a GITD cane tip on the base .. a few smacks to the ground and it's firmly attached. Perfect size/length/weight.

It is 5 foot tall. Steel reinforced and quality made.Lightweight but strong.Some other hiking sticks couldn't prevent you from falling and couldn't be used as weapon. I live in a rural area where there are occasional snakes and barking dogs. I am a dog lover but am not going to be bitten.

I use my new staff every time I take a hike or walk. It's absolutely perfect for me as someone 6'-1". It is not heavy at all for a staff this size. I affixed a cane piece to the bottom and have been good to go! I have received many compliments while out and about.

I purchased to use as a hiking stick. Due to the mixed reviews I've read I gave it a try. I've heard stories on the news of people being attacked by dogs and coyotes while hiking or walking so I figured this could serve double duty. It's sturdy enough for the task if you can look past the polished plastic end piece (or the implied impact portion) that was partially falling off. I suppose I can alleviate that from happening with some epoxy of some sort. The MSRP of this stick is

Great for hiking because I live close to the Ramapo Reservation. The only problem is there are coyotes that have attacked hikers and their dogs. To have a large walking stick is just smart for many reasons. This product is the best walking stick I have seen on the web. Good in the cold and hot weather because of what it is made of. Stronger than wood and aluminum and better than medal to the touch when it is freezing outside.

Ansich eine gute Trainings- und Nahkampfwaffe; das Material scheint tatsächlich so gut wie unzerstörbar zu sein.Leider gilt dies nicht für den lackierten und aufgesteckten Holzimitatgriff.Der Stock ist mir umgefallen (War an die Wand gelehnt) und dabei ist das Griffstück abgesprungen, der Lack ist großflächig abgeplatzt und von den Pins mit denen beide Teile verbunden waren sind auch 3 abgebrochen.Man stelle sich mein Dummes Gesicht vor.

It is a genuinely heavy duty product that will last a man a hundred years. I have an artificial knee and instead of using a walking stick for outback walks, that you lean on, this product provides me with sure footing and the ability to climb objects in a stable, safe measure. Well done U.S.A.

Super material super stock ! Kann mich da dem ahnungslosen vorredner nicht abschließen(beschädigter Stock mal außen vor das geht nicht!) aber das ist ein kampfstab und auch als solcher gedacht und von dem Hersteller sogar so beworben ! Zurück gehend auf die sogenannten Shillelagh Stöcke aus schwarzdorn die besonders in Irland Verwendung fanden und auch noch heute finden!!!!!
