If you had a Pentium (not i3, i5 or anything like that) in your 1150 socket motherboard, this will make a big difference. I can see my desktop lasting several more years now. Mine came with cpu fan and it works just fine.

Still using mine in 2022 but now overclocked to 4.5GHZ on a Gigabyte Z97 D3H | 16.04.2022
Still using mine in 2022 but now overclocked to 4.5GHZ on a Gigabyte Z97 D3H just using the % increase option in BIOS and a big air cooler. Significant increase in benchmarks at this speed but obviously still only half as good as a €230 Ryzen 5.
I use it for Assetto Corsa in VR with Oculus Quest 2 and only 8GB RAM on my board. Now I can stretch out my old rig a bit longer for the next gen of processors.

excellent chip does what it says on yhe box but check your MB can supply enough current or turboboost and over clocking will suffer..

I've bought this to use with Emulation gaming and for £40 it was hard to beat for the price. It does an amazing job with Gamecube and alot of PS2 titles if you have 8gb ram, but not quite powerful enough for the more demanding PS2 games. I hoping to pickup an i7 model when the price is good.

While old at this point, it's still a solid competitor for very budget oriented gaming on an older mobo. I was able to get mine to 4.5GHz reliably, and with it, no games were overly CPU throttled. It'll still do for today, but from 2021 on, its time is very limited before it needs a replacement.

Using this CPU today-had to use as back up. Still going strong. Good for gaming in 2020 to an extent. Runs Warzone on my PC set up with no issues at all. If you can get if for cheap enough as a stop gap, wouldnt hesitate to purchase this processor in todays market.

Upgrading from the Pentium G3260 to the i5 4690, I couldn't be more satisfied.
Currently I'm running it with 16gb Patriot Viper 3 1866MHz and ZOTAC GTX1650 SUPER. CPU Stock cooler.
Call of Duty Warzone 1080p 60fps no problem at all.

I think it is worth upgrading to an i7 if you are considering this i5. It seems to manage normal tasks like browsing the internet okay but when you try gaming or rendering video it is much slower than other processors on the market.

In the beginning I ordered the wrong product. I sent an message and they understood my confusion and very politely returned my money. I immediately ordered the right component. It came one day before estimated arrival, it's very well preserved (for a used one) and I successfully installed the product to my current set up and everything works fine. My PC is like new with an upgraded CPU.

Hopefully it's durability will be equally good.

I downgraded the game score because this is the older single-thread-per-core i5 while the newer ones are two threads per core and thus much quicker. Otherwise, used or not, the CPU was at least like-new and went in easily and is functioning well.

CPU incl. Lüfter kam unbeschädigt an. Läuft einwandfrei. Keine volle Punktzahl , weil die DPD Trackingnummer unvollständig war und ich die vollständige Nummer erst nach direkten Anruf bei DPD heraus bekam. Die ersten 4 Ziffern fehlten. Expresslieferung betrug 1 Woche.
