An inspirational set of collaborative tracks from the marvellous David Byrne and Brian Eno which I used to own on vinyl.....which has mysteriously disappeared!!!! Honestly listen it really is the dawn of dance/trance rhythm set to real life recordings of random chants or of preacher like episodes. Totally awesome!
| | 5.0 out of 5 stars The "Kind of Blue" of sampling | 2023-02-20
As Miles Davis both created and perfected a whole new approach to jazz with 1959's "Kind of Blue," Eno and Byrne opened the door to sample-driven dance music with "Ghosts," and also set the bar higher than most imitators ever came close to reaching. The fact that they did it with stone-age tools -- analog tape loops that were physically taped together -- rather than the digital tools that make syncing and adjusting pitch and timing so simple today makes their work even

I have not purchased a reissue of this so cannot comment on the physical quality of any format, however the quality of the music is beyond question. I got my version as an off the wall 17th birthday present in 1982 and I still play it 40 years later.

I won't review the music, you probably know what this is. I did want to mention this particular release of it though. As you may know, they decided to remove the track Quran at one point due to it upsetting a religious group. For the longest time it was replaced by a new track (at the time) Very Very Hungry. It always bothered me because I had the original Vinyl. They didn't even restore Quran for the Special Edition of the album that was released some years back. Anyway, fast

Aloha, so, so happy to have found this CD; it's mesmerizing! Had the vinyl, years ago when it was first issued, but it got lost somewhere in my many cross-country travels! One of the differences between this CD, and the first pressing of the original vinyl, is the absence of one of my fave songs on there, "Qu'ran", which I hear the producers (?) pulled due to someone's complaints & the ensuing controversy over the use of Muslim prayers, sampled during the song, sad to

The original 1981 album is fantastic! I love it! In general when it comes to music, some of the time I like new mixes but more times than not I don't. A remix implies they got it wrong the first time and much of the time they didn't. Also most of the time I like hearing additional cuts or songs. But I must say, these are awful! The remixes destroy the MYSTERY of the original songs making too many things much more apparent and the additional tracks should have stayed in the vault. All

| | 5.0 out of 5 stars The best Talking Heads album that’s not a Talking Heads album | 2020-02-08
This is one of the most interesting albums I’ve heard in a while. It’s like Remain In Light had a funky experimental twin brother. I recently bought the expanded remastered vinyl version from 2006 and it sounds incredible, and the bonus tracks are amazing as well. But it doesn’t contain the forbidden track Qu’ran. I won’t get into the reason why this song is excluded from newer releases, but the song is awesome and as a completist, I had to have this cd. At least until I find an original

If you didn’t hear this album when it came out, it’s really hard to contextualise it’s impact. I was made aware of Brian Eno by some people at an HMV I worked at in London in 1990. I bought Apollo first (most people did). Then an Our Price in Tonbridge in Kent had a cassette sale on and I got a whole pile on Eno for next to nothing. I was intoxicated by the whole concept of E.G. Records. This one stood out though. Funky jerky rhythms, creepy religious murmurings, crazy radio dial turns. I knew

Schade! Heißt für Sammler: Erstauflage (der LP) suchen!

| | Spookily, lifeless | 2018-04-05
One of the most boring, artless records I have ever heard. People criticise progressive rock for its 'noodling'. Well, this album is nothing but noodling, masquerading as a cerebral mash-up of rhythms, world music and vocal effects. Nothing here engages me whatsoever. This is regrettable because both artists have distinguished CVs, but this is not the finest hour from either gentleman. I am particularly disappointed that Eno, an innovator in many fields, should lend his talents to

A classic. The first really successful album to mix original music with recordings taken from a variety of radio recordings. Think of an exorcism set to a great musical groove. Or a manic preacher set to a rocking rhythm. Great stuff Eno and Bryne kick started off a whole new style of music with this album. Still stands out as the best of its genre to this day.

First off, the Vinyl copy was well worth (pretty steep) the price; clean, crackle-free, no audible pops or scratches, other than track-gaps - truly one of the cleanest I've heard (and I've had to return some doozies!)Bass is tight, highs are clear and defined.Next, the memories this evokes! From my days of campus radio (Hello UCT Radio!}, the Jezebel Spirit (best paired with Crosseyed and Painless from Talking Heads, Remain in Light, released around the same time, I have the 2006 release

What is Trustami

Trustami regularly scans the internet for new reviews and collect them in one place, in order to make them available to interested parties at a glance.

We want to make it as easy as possible for every internet user to look up products. Instead of relying on just one source, we provide a single point of contact to get easily all the reviews on a product.

Trustami does not generate new reviews and stays independent in order to make the internet more transparent. We automatically search on popular internet platforms and websites to find reviews and identify products. Our claim here is to provide a helpful set of product information that anyone can rely on. The aggregation of product data is done as good as possible and may include multiple versions of one product.

Trustami was created as a project of the Technical University of Berlin (TUB) with the aim of making the internet more trustworthy. Research in the field of "Social Media Analytics & Big Data" at the Chair of Information and Communication Management (IKM) provided a first prototype that enabled the collection of reputation data. With further development and funding Trustami became an independent spin-off.
