I’m outside the return window but didn’t need to use it until today. Right out of the package it didn’t work. It was definitely previously used as the package was opened and resealed and batteries were already in the device. I owned the same set before and it is not working the way it should. Open and test as soon as it is received don’t be like me.

Ich habe das Prokukt zurückgeschickt. Bei längeren Leitungslängen (ab 30m) kam ein Signal an sowohl bei Cat6 Leitungen und auch bei Koaxleietungen für SAT LNb's. Ich werde wohl nach einem professionellen Gerät schauen.

Slim and easy to fit into cluttered areas. The generator is strong enought to hear through speakers. Both probe and generator work very well and the price is good.

Works great, descent price. I like that you can unplug the wires & it has a coax connection. It would have been nice if it was rj45 instead of rj11.

This is really the best toner I've ever used. I've never been a fan of the Fluke toners, but I used one for a long time. This Ideal toner is easier to use and produces a much clearer tone than the Fluke toners do.

The probe works great, but I can't get the tone generator part to work that well. The signal gets attenuated after only a short distance. I have much better luck using the tone generator in my Test Um network tester, and just using this probe.

Only needed the probe (receiver) to work with IDEAL 33-856 VDV MultiMedia Cable Tester that I already owned. For some bizarre reason I could buy this kit for much cheaper than I could buy just the probe, oh well. Works great and am very satisfied with this unit.

I have used several brands and the Ideal equipment works as well as any. There are several modes to use and the tone travels even over a digital signal quite well.

The contents of the received package did not match what was pictured. There was no alligator clips supplied, but instead, mysteriously, there was an RJ-45 flat short cable. I say mysteriously because the connector on the tone generator is RJ-11, so there is no way to connect this cable and no point in doing so. My application is tracing CAT-6 cables, which is possible if you have an RJ-11 to RJ-45 coupler, so the product is not a waste for me. But I do find it strange such a useless item

I had the original basic toner by ideal. It got stolen, kind of blessing in disguise. I am still getting used to it, but loving the fact that no cables are permanently coming out of the toner, I have inputs to plug the wire in. That was the trouble with the original one; I had to buy a coupler to tone out cat3 or cat5 cables. Now I can plug it directly into the toner, and on top of that it has rf jack. Again, I had to use a cut coax cable and have one end terminated and the other end strip down

I purchased this to prove to a contractor that they had a wiring problem, actually a couple of problems. After pointing out that one pair of the phone line had a short (a nail was driven through the wire) and one run of the coax cable was bad, the contractor had to rip down a portion of drywall and correct both errors. I looked as if both problems were done intentionally, probably by a disgruntled worker.My never use it again.

My older unit just didn't do a very good job at toning out wires. I don't know if it was just older technology or what, but the IDEAL unit works very well.This model is more up to date, more power and even does RG6 tracing as well as CAT3(phone)The only thing that I don't like about this is the storage bag. It isn't wide enough to allow the sender and receiver to go in side-by-side. You have to fumble around to get everything in correctly so it can be zipped up. One

Why is there no bed of nails on the alligator clips? Do you have any idea what a pain it is to have to strip everything before we can tone it? It also mentioned several different tones; there is a difference between several and one.

Picked one of these up at Lowes one day because I lost my regular toner made by progressive electronics. I've been a field tech for a little over 15 years and I noticed two things I didn't like immediately. The toner has no strap with which to hang the toner; I had to find a surface to set the toner on within a distance that the leads would reach. This is often not possible. Secondly the idea of having to unplug the alligator clip leads to plug in the little rj11 patch cord was somewhat

The sensor probe is not as sensitive as I had hoped for but it still does the job of locating wiring behind sheetrock. It also does a very good job as a continuity checker.

Merchant shipped the old revision 33-864. I asked them about it and they corrected it(Which is sweet). The new revision is grey and has an F-Type Female for tracing coax.
