Excellent camera and fantastic IQ with the amazing Leica glass. Manual focus with rangefinder works well though much differently than typical autofocus of dslrs. A bit pricey for an older camera but worth it.

Diese Kamera ist zwar nicht mehr die neueste Generationd der digitalen Leica M Kamera aber immer noch zeitgemäß. 24 Megapixel sind mehr als ausreichend und die Bildqualität ist im Vergleich mit aktuellen Kameras immer noch auf sehr hohem Niveau. Die Kamera ist ein guter und noch einigermaßen preiswerter Einstieg ins digitale Leica M System, die aktuelle M11 kostet neu immerhin mehr als das doppelte der M Typ 246.

Incredible IQ from ISO 200-400, and obvious sacrifices from 800+ when compared to the most advanced and modern sensors. If your work doesn’t demand the best high ISO performance, and you intend on shooting in well-lit situations, the several-years-old M240 sensor still handles beautifully. This is the best option for an “affordable” digital Leica, and if you primarily desire the rangefinder shooting experience with a few modern updates, like auto-iso, this camera is a pure joy to use.

Even with highest usable iso at 3200 its a really nice compact Camera which wants you to shoot it again and again. Its a pleasure to take it around all the time. Maybe its not up to modern date in terms of its specs but i will make you feel less like holding a expensive gadget and more like a real camera.

Very happy with my acquisition. One classic M camera and basically the last with full video capability. Not that its a must for hardcore Leica fans but I use video quite a fair bit in between shots so its important to me.

I am completely at ease with this, my second, M240. I had the original M240 and, when the M240 m-p arrived I decided that I would bite the bullet and take advantage of the sapphire glass rear screen and the faster buffer of the upgraded (mid term?) M240 m-p.

It is a gross understatement to say Leica M is an eccentric camera. The rangefinder series includes the M and the M9 and some variations. They pack high quality full frame sensors into a body using focusing technology that became outdated when the first autofocus systems appeared the 1960s, and then they charge an outrageous price. In risposta alla stupidissima recensione che mi precede, direi che ogni recensione sulla Leica M è superflua: Leica M è SACRA. Il meglio del meglio per la Street Photo e tutte le foto che si vogliono fare usando il cervello. Zero automatismi, tu, la macchina fotografica e il risultato da costruire.

Brilliant Leica M 240 | 07.09.2015
The Leica M isn't like other cameras in that it's really a constant reminder to think before taking the shot. The optics, even older Leica lenses, are optically brilliant, and the ergonomics feel like what you expect to feel when you make images. I love my Leica M 240. The only downside is that this ISO range should be better. I still shoot with my Canon 5d3 a lot and the only reason really is low light performance of the Leica isn't good enough to replace my Canon for a lot of work.

Rien à dire sur ce produit à part peut être son poids. Il faut juste trouver le bon objectif qui correspond à son style. Il peut être utilisé avec des objectifs Lomography qui permettent de faire des clichés sympa. Très bon souvenir de famille. Mis à part le boteks, les couleurs sont impressionnantes. J'ai pu comparer le rouge entre une photo avec un Leica et un Nikon: aucun doute à avoir. Franchement cela voit le prix un peu excessif, si on recherche des photos de famille sans être un pro.

Ich bewerte hier die Safari Edition von Leica, die hier nicht angeboten wird bzw. die ich auch nicht bei der Preiskategorie bei Amazon erwerben würde (zur Zeit erhalte ich häufiger wieder Zusendungen von Amazon, die bereits jemand geöffnet und dann bei nichtgefallen bzw. Nutzung zurück gesendet hatte. Das ist in meinen Augen keine Neuware mehr!).
Was soll man zu einer Leica Kamera schreiben? Es ist ein wunderschönes Gerät - hier muss jeder selber entscheiden, ob Ihm die olivgrüne Special Edition

Upgraded from the M9-P, took it to Cuba. I used a minimum of ISO 640 and often higher due to the dark streets, etc. Results were oustanding: low noise (easily controllable in Lightroom) even up to ISO 1600. Sharpness, great with the Leica lenses. Worked flawlessly.

This would be a five star product, but the price still seems outrageous to me. If you want a digital rangefinder that can fit in your pocket and take incredible pictures though, it's the only game in town. The M has changed my photographic life. I can use my grandpa's old lenses and they are remarkably in perfect calibration! Not sure how that worked out, but they are. They actually seem to be more precise over more aperture ranges than my new lenses. It shouldn't be that way,

Ich habe bereits seit Monaten nach dieser Kamera Ausschau gehalten und war richtig froh, als sie bei eBay angeboten wurde. Ich fotografiere schon seit mehr als 50 Jahren mit Leica M. Die Leica M (240) ist die beste und vielseitigste Kamera die ich auf dem Markt kenne. Sie kann eigentlich alles, was sich der ambitionierte Hobbyfotograf wünscht.Es dauert allerdings etwas, bis man ihr umgehen kann. Sie dient dem Fotografieren, icht dem Knipsen.

Let me first tell you this is absolutely gorgeous camera with awesome capability of taking stunning pictures. I owned 2 SLRs for last 12 years and found I am carrying my camera (the M) more frequently and more comfortably than ever; that explains a lot. If you have a great camera but if it is difficult to carry around - the whole meaning is gone. Also these days walking with a big camera is sort of sight pollution; every Tom, Dick and Harry has an SLR and the meaningless clicking at everything

I don't know where to begin with a review of this camera. It is so much better than my M9… besides the singular fact that the images are better… more micro-contrast in the shaded areas, crisper detail, more evenly balanced tonal range… the most important improvement is that some of the more difficult Leica lenses are now infinitely more useable due to the addition of focus peaking. Let me explain…
On my M9, with my Noctilux when shot wide-open, I'd only hit focus maybe 50% of the time.

This is like my old English Jaguars, so I bought two. One for use, the other in the shop being fixed.
It's no exaggeration to say that when I handle my M240 it makes me better than Cartier-Bresson. After all, that poor fellow used film, was clueless about Photoshop and had to manually set everything. I read the other 3-star review and thought he raised some good points. My sensor glass is also dirty with scattered dust even though it came straight from the factory, through an authorized dealer. My camera also froze a couple times during the first month of use that required me to remove the battery to reset.
However, the camera should only be judged by the quality of the images it produces, not the inconveniences it may create. On this front, the Leica M is a winner! It is just not fair

A little buyer's remorse-- | 27.01.2014
UPDATE - camera has been back to Leica twice for service. First time they paid, second time they sent me a bill for $1200 to re-repair a loose sensor and misalignment of the rangefinder. I fear Leica has jumped the shark. I have owned a lot of their glass over the years. I'm probably never buying another (new, at least) camera from leica. For the money I would buy a used phase one with a digital back and get 10x the camera and quality.

Amazing product - the basics still yield amazing pictures | 18.12.2013
I've been a semi-pro photographer for 4 years. I'm the type of photographer that will travel the ends of the earth for the right picture. I have been shooting with Nikon for about 15 years and went through the transition of film to digital. Today I have a Nikon D800E and a D4... And then some time ago, I decided to explore the world of black and white. So I dove in and purchased a Leica M Monochrom. My world has never been the same since.

If you've shot Leica before then the short summary of this review is: The Leica M typ 240 is the better camera.
The Leica M9 had lots of character, that special quality that's hard to describe but oh so easy to see in your photos - but the M9 also had a lot of limitations and sometimes frustrating shortcomings, the look was second to none, but trying to shoot a few frames in quick succession and the camera could freeze and require you to take out and re-insert the battery. Revision to review: Leica has fallen behind. The Sony A7II and A7S fill the same niche as the Leica M but are better and cheaper. They have much better low light capability, cost 25% as much, and you can use Leica lenses with an adapter. Was ist Trustami
Trustami durchsucht regelmäßig das Internet nach neuen Bewertungen, um diese an einem Ort zu bündeln und so auf einen Blick für Interessenten bereit zu stellen.
Wir möchten es jedem Internetnutzer so einfach wie möglich machen sich über Produkte zu informieren. Anstatt sich nur auf eine Quelle zu verlassen, bieten wir eine zentrale Anlaufstelle, um mit wenig Aufwand sämtliche Bewertungen zu einem Produkt zu erhalten.
Trustami erhebt selbst keine Bewertungen und ist als unabhängige Instanz darum bemüht das Internet transparenter zu gestalten. Es werden automatisch gängige Internetplattformen und Webseiten durchsucht, um Bewertungen zu finden und Produkte zu identifizieren. Unser Anspruch ist hierbei eine hilfreiche Zusammenstellung an Produktinformationen anzubieten, auf die sich jeder verlassen kann. Die Zusammenführung von Produktinformationen erfolgt bestmöglich und kann verschiedene Produktvarianten umfassen.
Trustami ist als Projekt aus der Technischen Universtität Berlin (TUB) entstanden mit dem Ziel das Internet vertrauenswürdiger zu machen. Forschungsarbeiten im Bereich „Social Media Analytics & Big Data“ am Lehrstuhl für Informations- und Kommunikationsmanagement (IKM) lieferten einen ersten Prototyp, der die Erhebung und Sammlung von Reputationsinformationen ermöglichte. Dieser wurde anschließend im Rahmen eines geförderten Stipendiums weiterentwickelt und ist heute ein eigenständiges Spin-Off.
