Try Tribulation | 14.05.2021
Tribulation are one of those hard-to-catagorize bands. Are they death metal? Are they melodic black metal? Are they goth? The answer is yes, all of the above and yet still something more. I got their latest disc called Where the Gloom Becomes Sound and liked it so much I decided to delve deeper in their discography to see what I'd find. While Children of the Night is definitely a heavier sound, I think Where the Gloom is probably still my favorite. Children of the Night scores big points for

TCotN ist eines *der* Metalalben der letzten Jahre. Nach The Formulas of Death (2013) hat sich die Band damit beschäftigt, was Metal sein könnte, wenn man sich von der Konventionen und dem Korsett enger Genredefinitionen trennt. Schon auf The Formulas of Death hatte die Band Black Metal, Death Metal und Trash mit Zwischenstücken versetzt, die ihren Ursprung in anderen Musikrichtungen hatten.
Auf TCotN setzen Tribulation diesen Weg konsequent fort; klassischer Rock, der lange belächelte

I really like this band. I recommend you give them a listen if you haven't already. But I do think you should listen to something by them before you spend your money because they are a bit different. The thing you need to come to terms with to enjoy this band is the vocal style. It's a type of growling I guess but not the Lamb of God or As I lay dying style it's I don't know, a more controlled or maybe a haunting style is more accurate. Anyway I am good with it but not for

Outre le fait que "The Children of the Night" soit un excellent album sorti il y a déjà trois ans, la superbe édition digipack devenait de plus en plus dure à trouver et je suis ravie d'avoir pu l'obtenir via Amazon à un prix aussi bas.

Gitarristen Jonathan Hultén solo live gesehen, mir bis dahin unbekannt, Singer/Songwriter-artig, sehr gut, wenn man sowas mag, geschaut, was der sonst noch macht: Axt in Death-Metal-Band! Reingehört - begeistert gewesen - Album gekauft. Geht dem Standardrezept "schneller härter lauter" wohlweißlich aus dem Weg und macht melodischen Death Metal mit Black-Einsprengseln, der den Instrumenten Platz zum atmen lässt und sich Zeit nimmt wo sie richtig placiert ist, ohne Drehmoment einzubüßen.

Solid progressive death metal for meloncholic nights | 25.11.2017
An interesting take on Swedish progressive death metal in Tribulation's third full-length studio release. Has enough instrumentation and variety to keep it interesting, but overall still a very raw, grinding feel. I think it would sound better on a vinyl record.

Absolutely LOVE this band and they get better with each album. I would recommend this to any fan of horror themed Swedish dream metal. Cannot wait for the new 2018 release!

Amazon hat ja kürzlich bei einigen doch noch recht aktuellen Alben die Preise drastisch gesenkt, so dass ich auch mal in einige mir unbekannte Acts reingehört habe. Darunter auch in die Scheibe The Children of the Night der Schweden Tribulation. Ich war auf Anhieb begeistert! Der Mix aus alten Tiamat, rockigen Satyricon, Katatonia und einem Schuss Sentenced hat mich komplett weggeblassen. Die Scheibe ist echt ne Wucht. Schwachstellen? Quasi nicht vorhanden. Sehr zu empfehlen!

La edición de este magnifico album es de 2 vinilos de 180gr, pero que solamente están grabadas 3 caras, la última es no contiene música, cosa que lo hace realmente único. El album está estructurado en 3 actos (uno por cara) que bién podrian ser los de una opera o obra de teatro. Contiene un libro con todas las letras.

Esta gente haría lo mismo tocasen el estilo que tocasen. Su musica trasciende el estilo que tocan paras ser simplemente heavy metal atemporal. Aunque su estilo es black metal la manera en que desarrollan los temas, los arreglos que les hacen, acaban en un territorio donde solo se desenvuelven los mas grandes, por que ofrecen dosis de guitarras y solos sin fin, resuelven los temas con mucho acierto. Amazing album, definitely the best of 2015 by far. Tribulation are such an amazing band, evolving constantly their sound. It's mindblowing to see how they came from the death/black headbanging that was The Horror to this one. Even the progy Formulas of Death could not prepare me for such a piece of art. Gothic rock meats progressive rock, mixed with classic heavy metal sauce and sweet aural darkness broth. Black/death metal moments are still there contributing to the vibe of a horror film

Great album! Borderline masterpiece. when I bought it I jammed it about 10 times in a row then went and bought the rest of their discography. in my opinion this is thier best album thus far.

It's a good album. I was surprised at the turn they took from "The Horror" which was much faster and more "evil" sounding, but being open to depressing music (Ghenna, My Dying Bride, Katatonia, Throes of Dawn etc) I was happy to hear the bands ablitiy to change direction and still pull off an amazing sound. It's definitely moody, easy to listen to (even as background music) it doesn't drone on, but maintains a mood without becoming washed out by mental or audio

Very smooth metal music. Exciting to listen to when driving. I love the instrumental on track 5, just can't pronounce the name. This was mi first album from Tribulation, will check out their earlier release. Highly recomended.

Saw this band open for Deafheaven and I thought they made it very difficult for Deafheaven to follow. Bought this album at the show and it is unique. It's got that Swedish melody but the songwriting is really different and refreshing compared to most metal. There's kind of this '70s glam thing going on and it works great. They put on a killer live show, it's like watching Queen play mid-pace black metal.

Je ne suis pas sensible aux groupe qui se sentent obligés de se coller une image dark gothique rien que pour vendre leur disque aux ados. Fan de métal depuis la puberté, j'apprécie en premier lieu l'inspiration. The Children of the Night est un disque inspiré, noir et aérien pour un groupe prometteur. Deux défaut: c'est un peu court et ça manque de punch. Mais bon ... Prometteur!

Was für ein atmosphärischer Cocktail aus Black Metal, Heavy Metal und glamourösem Düsterrock: Songwriting-technisch sind Tribulation mit diesem Album über alle Zweifel erhaben, und wer denkt, nur ultrahart ist ultradüster, der kann sich mit dieser Langrille vom Gegenteil überzeugen. Einfach zum gnadenlos Abrocken, während man dem Schnitter lachend in die Augenhöhlen sieht.

I'll admit I didn't expect too much from this album. The cover, title, and the first notes of organ straight out of a horror movie made me think it was just another unnecessary black metal album.
Wait a minute... But is this black metal? They are elements of it. But hey, that riff sounds like good old school rock... And is that a pentatonic blues solo? Hold on, the guitarist is not playing on a traditional Jackson/BC Rich/Insert your favorite metal axe brand here? And... I can understand

This album has exceeded my expectations although it is a record that needs to be experienced in it's entirety at least a couple times to truly understand it. It is complex in it's simplicity and that is not an easy thing to create. Tribulation has made on album that breaks the confines of being labelled as a black metal or a death metal album. Je ne suis pas une grande fan de death, autant le dire tout de suite. Je suis tombée par hasard sur une interview de ce groupe dans un magazine et les propos d'Adam Zaars (guitariste, principal créateur) m'ont poussée à la curiosité de jeter une oreille sur leur musique. Parce que les propos en question étaient intéressants, dénués des clichés (notamment sur la religion) que l'on retrouve sans cesse dans le death metal et le black metal et qui me tapent sur les nerfs par leur manque
