It has fine sound quality for a small unit. It was easy to set up and controls are straightforward.
I thought the solar feature was cool. I have it sitting in a west facing window and the battery is always fully charged.

Good radio. It's IPX3 rating makes it water-resistant, not water proof.
I left mine in the rain and guess what happened? Toast.
The other issue I had was the rechargeable battery. It didn't hold much of a charge.
The radio itself has nice sound quality and features though and the solar panel is neat. Just don't leave it outside too long. ;)
I'm looking for a replacement that is actually water proof.

I won't go into all the details other reviewers have posted about this product. I have bought similar types of portable radios and quickly returned them after seeing how poor the quality of these radios was. Therefore, I read the reviews of the Sangean MMR-88 closely, as I was willing to pay more for a good quality portable radio.
I have only owned the radio for a week but have taken it to various work sites and it performs as reported. I'm happy with the design, sound, and

Prinzipiell ist das Radio okay. Einfach zu bedienen, Klang okay und auch der Empfang ist okay. Böses erwachen kam jetzt, als der Akku den Geist aufgegeben hat. Ein neuer Akku kostet um die 15 Euro, da es eine spezielle Größe ist. Ich schmeisse jetzt lieber das Radio weg und kaufe mir eines mit normalen Batterien/Akkus. Die hat man im Notfall eher parat als spezielle Batteriegrößen. Deswegen für mich Schrott.

Tja, Notfallradio?
Am 24.12.2022 gekauft und nach einem Eingangstest auf die Fensterbank (Südseite) mit viel Sonnenlicht gestellt.
Jetzt am 29.10.2023 also fast ein Jahr später sollte man davon ausgehen, dass der Akku des Notfallradios voll geladen ist.
Der Akku ist ein 3,7V Akku aber die Akkuspannung nach einem Jahr Solarladen beträgt 2,8V… --da rührt sich nichts am Radio--.

But the volume and channel tuning buttons are counterintuitive. The + and - volume buttons are in a horizontal orientation and the tuning buttons are in a vertical orientation. This is the cheapest piece of junk. Worthless. You cannot depend upon such poor tech. Charging issues, exacerbating interface, freezing up randomly....what a waste of my time and money. Garbage tech. I am embarrassed to even admit that I bought the darn thing. If there ever is an emergency where I need such a device, I would certainly perish ignorant and out of touch with what is going on.

I’ve had several weather radios over the last 20 year. About half of them were Midlands. So believe me when I tell you this one has it all, folks. Four flashlight modes, replaceable rechargeable lithium batteries, AM, FM, and WX bands, digital tuner, and 19 station presets, solar and crank charger, etc…. But what I like the most about it is the clear reception. Absolutely outstanding when compared with my other radios.

Liked the size, but some of the features were not easy to get to. After 1 week I noiced the upgraded MMR-99 @ $116.00 was available and decided to retur the MMR-88 to Amazon, just got it and what a difference, a bit larger in size, like the color Dark Green, 5 preset memory buttons and a larger Lithium battery (18650). Hope this review helps?

I just received this radio and went through the set-up process and set all the pre-set stations I wanted. It seems like a very durable and quality product. I am happy that I will have it at my disposal should I need it in case of a weather/climate emergency.

Das Radio hat einen erstunlich guten Klang und hält den Sender sauber, kein Rauschen etc.
Ein Manko ist, dass der Akku nicht allzulange hält. Allerdings ist es ja auch ein Notfallradio. Die Ladeanzeige leuchtet rot, wenn geladen wird. Leider wechselt sie nicht, wenn der Akku voll ist. Ich hatte das Radio anfangs die ganze Nacht geladen. Es wird immer noch "rot" angezeigt, obwohl der Akku voll ist.
Ich vergebe 4 Sterne. Werde es behalten.

An diesem Wintertag schien für eine Weile die Sonne durchs Fenster und aktivierte die Nachladung über das Solarpaneel. Perfekt. Ich war sehr zufrieden; das bin ich heute auch noch. Der Kurbelbetrieb überfordert herzkranke Menschen, da kaum Ladung erzielbar.
Habe das Gerät Anfang 2022 erworben und dann ca. 5 Minuten das Radio benutzt. Obwohl das Radio immer am Südostfenster stand, hat der Sonnenkollektor den Akku nicht geladen und über USB hat dies auch nicht funktioniert. Fazit: Schrott ab Werk.

Purchased this a while ago. It was put away for emergencies. When I was without power for a long period I got it out. Dead. Batteries tested good, solar showed batteries charging, hand crank cranked to no effect. Worthless. Got a different brand and it works. This one was dead from the start.

My only complaint it the battery. Whys it got to be so hard to find a higher ah battery. The manufacturer doesn't supply enough information to upgrade this one Menucha part.. I don't know if they make the battery too or what it is but if they fix this, this is as good as it gets great sound great kitchen radio for the morning for coffee, sounds incredible. Nice to be able to fix stations that you can quickly go to great reception but that battery thing fix it.

I bought for its solar charging and hand crank for emergency electricity outages. We've gone through a brush fire that had us a month without electricity (and no landline phone; but the water/toilets worked, thank God).
We used a windup lantern to read by at night (along with candles) and to charge a cell phone. We also have periodic electricity turnoffs during brushfire season and high-usage hours in broiling summers.

Very tinny sounding, but also clear. The reception is excellent compared to all my other radios -- including my other new Sangean radios.
Was surprised with the size, but convenient. I use it mainly for a kitchen radio to listen to the news and local stations.
Like the radio, just wish it had a little more med range sound for listening. I was also thinking, that for an emergency radio it would be nice if it had a digital clock.

Der Survivor überzeugt vor allem durch Klangqualität und gute Verarbeitung, eben made in Taiwan und nicht in China. Auch die Empfangsqualität in DAB+ und UKW ist hervorragend. Der Akku kann leicht gewechselt werden, allerdings ist das der einzige kleine Wermutstropfen, die Kapazität hätte größer sein können, nur ca. 10 Stunden Laufzeit in DAB+ bei niedriger Lautstärke, daher als Powerbank zwar möglich, aber nicht empfehlenswert.

Auch ich habe mich von der Katastrophen Hysterie anstecken lassen. Was wenn der Strom länger ausfällt? Nun gut dann sollte man ein Informations-Instrument haben, das damit klarkommt. Dieses Radio bietet alles, damit man in so einer Situation -so weit es eben geht- gelassen bleibt. Zuerst den 18350 Akku via USB und des Micro-USB Steckers aufladen (Kabel liegt bei). What is Trustami
Trustami regularly scans the internet for new reviews and collect them in one place, in order to make them available to interested parties at a glance.
We want to make it as easy as possible for every internet user to look up products. Instead of relying on just one source, we provide a single point of contact to get easily all the reviews on a product.
Trustami does not generate new reviews and stays independent in order to make the internet more transparent. We automatically search on popular internet platforms and websites to find reviews and identify products. Our claim here is to provide a helpful set of product information that anyone can rely on. The aggregation of product data is done as good as possible and may include multiple versions of one product.
Trustami was created as a project of the Technical University of Berlin (TUB) with the aim of making the internet more trustworthy. Research in the field of "Social Media Analytics & Big Data" at the Chair of Information and Communication Management (IKM) provided a first prototype that enabled the collection of reputation data. With further development and funding Trustami became an independent spin-off.
